Asurapreet
The Last JediThe Delta-7 Aethersprite is Jax Pavan’s Jedi starfighter and the hidden lifeline of his attempt to reach Thi Xon Yimmon at Kantaros Station. Jax uses the ship not simply as transport but as a platform for Force projection and concealment, adapting its apparent identity to slip through Imperial defenses. Those techniques make the infiltration possible, yet bind the craft to the dangerous power source that eventually draws Darth Vader’s attention. Its final role is an act of sacrifice: the damaged fighter disappears into space, taking the pyronium-powered projection beyond easy Imperial recovery.
A Starfighter Turned Infiltration Tool
Jax begins by placing his Force-cloaked vessel in the path of an Imperial corvette bound for Kantaros Station in the Bothawui system. As the corvette passes overhead, he projects a rapidly spinning mass of ice and rock, about the size of a long-range shuttle, into its path. The apparent collision makes the corvette brake well before reaching him. Jax then paces the larger ship and brings the Aethersprite gently against its keel, so softly that he doubts the contact registers on the corvette’s systems. When the corvette raises its shields and dives into the asteroid field, those shields enfold the fighter. Its energy profile can now be read by even sophisticated sensors as part of the Imperial ship’s output.
That first concealment solves only the problem of crossing the asteroid field. The corvette is too large to enter the station’s space docks, so its personnel and cargo must use shuttles, while a refueling rig handles the ship itself. Jax cannot bring the Force-cloaked fighter directly into a crowded docking area: another arriving shuttle might collide with a vessel that appears to be empty space. He therefore uses Force projection again, this time making the Delta-7 appear to be a docking shuttle or courier. When the corvette’s shuttles depart, an additional courier joins them, directed to a diplomatic bay in the northeastern hemisphere of the station’s Imperial sector. It lands stem to stern with another courier, using that vessel’s shadow and remaining just inside the perimeter force shield. To the Imperial operatives nearby, the arrival is unremarkable.
The Cost of the Disguise
The apparent courier is a projection sustained by pyronium, which Jax has used to power the Aethersprite’s disguise. That arrangement gives the illusion a crucial advantage: it is, for practical purposes, eternal. But the power source cannot simultaneously serve every need. Because the pyronium is supporting the ship’s projected identity, Jax does not have it with him to extend his own use of the Force. He considers that without it he can only hope that something he has absorbed from the Sith Holocron will give him even a fleeting advantage against Darth Vader.
Jax keeps the Delta-7 cloaked because discovery of a Jedi starfighter inside an Imperial facility could be disastrous, and because the hidden vessel preserves his only avenue of escape. Meanwhile, projecting himself as an Imperial officer is difficult to maintain while he also tunnels his attention toward Yimmon. The ship’s disguise and Jax’s personal impersonation thus create distinct but interlocking demands: the fighter must remain concealed, while its pilot needs to concentrate on the rescue and retain enough freedom to use the techniques at his disposal.
Vader Finds the Hidden Craft
The Aethersprite’s concealment becomes precarious when Vader recognizes Jax’s projections after touching and feeling them. A pyronium-powered projection is buried in a far corner of the docking bay, and the black-helmeted Sith turns toward it. Jax realizes that his plan to answer Vader with a combination of thrust, parry, and projection may fail; Vader could discover both the Jedi ship and the pyronium. The threat is sharpened by the history of the power source: Anakin Skywalker had given Jax the pyronium for safekeeping, before becoming Darth Vader. What had once been entrusted to Jax might now fall into the hands of the Sith.
As Vader approaches the concealed fighter, Jax can feel the energies of its pyronium-fed projection humming in the Force, and he is certain Vader can feel them too. The starfighter has allowed Jax to cross into the Imperial facility under cover, but the very energy sustaining that cover has become a beacon to an enemy who can perceive his projections. This reversal makes the craft both the enabling instrument of the mission and a liability at its most dangerous moment. Jax’s purpose is to free Yimmon; he resists surrendering what is in his head, even as the hidden ship and its power source are at risk.
Sacrifice and Disappearance
During the escape, the Aethersprite is crippled and remains behind as Jax flies away from the burning wreckage. A second explosion racks the docking bay, and the fighter sacrifices itself in the blast. The ruined ship is hurled into space and vanishes. The pyronium absorbs the explosion’s energy, leaving it as a tiny glittering piece of flotsam ejected from the Imperial shuttle bays—small enough to be difficult to notice, but still immensely powerful.
Jax doubts that even Vader will be able to track the pyronium down, particularly while the Dark Lord has other concerns. He can nevertheless feel Vader’s cold rage, a reminder that the destruction of the fighter has not defeated its pursuer. The Aethersprite’s disappearance therefore closes its practical role in the rescue without resolving the danger attached to the power source. The craft has carried Jax into the station, preserved a concealed route of escape, and finally been expended to put distance between the pyronium and the Imperial forces.
